Pre-Kindergarten Program
The Pre-K program at Happy Faces Academy is based on the following characteristics which we believe are cornerstones for a strong foundation that will help children to successfully transition to kindergarten and elementary school. The Pre-K program at Happy Faces Academy will not discriminate on any basis of race, religion, color, ethnicity, disability etc. We follow equal treatment and opportunity policy.
Approach to Learning: Aligned to our philosophy of learning through play, our certified Pre-K teachers help build essential skills by creating engaging activities that balance instructed learning and purposeful play. Learning and playing are not just limited to the classroom. Children participate in the outdoor environment each day in well planned and coordinated games and fun learning activities.

Language and Literacy: Language and Literacy are major domains of early childhood development. Language development is essential for social communication and literacy development is vital for ability to read and write. Our Pre-K program will ensure that children develop these critical skills during their preschool days.

Social and Emotional Development: Our goal is to provide a safe, secure, warm and affectionate environment for children that fosters social, emotional, and cognitive development. We recognize that children develop at different rates and have different interests. Our Pre-K program will cater to every child’s individual needs, so children of all abilities, including ESL children, will learn at their own pace and comfort.

Physical Development/Health: Physical development is one of the main domains of development for preschoolers. Our program will help children to successfully use their gross motor skills such as throwing, climbing, skipping, running, kicking and jumping. The program will also involve providing them with basic understanding of health and nutrition.

Math skills: Research has shown that early math exposure is crucial for later success in math. Math is an important part of learning for children in the early years because it provides vital life skills, in fact, it is as important as reading skills. Our program will educate students about number counts, patterns, shapes, sorting, ordering, basic addition and subtraction, and critical thinking in relation to life skills.
Creative Arts: Art at preschool age has a lot of benefits, it helps develop motor skills, accelerates brain development and build’s self-esteem. Our program will allow children to explore creativity through fun activities that engage a child's imagination and will include activities such as drawing, craft, dance, drama, puppetry and music.

Social Studies: Social studies learning begins as children make friends and participate in decision-making in the classroom, then it moves into the neighborhood and around the world. Our program will include foundational social educational activities that provide children with opportunities to understand community roles and help them eventually become responsible citizens.

Science: this is one of the most important domains of knowledge for preschoolers, it helps children to better understand and explore daily life experiences and interests. Our program will provide science knowledge that relates to their daily lives, such as the human body, senses, animals, plants, seasons, universe etc.

Digital Technology: Today’s preschoolers are “digital natives”, Technology is inherent and can be used effectively in the classroom to empower children to enhance imagination, creativity and productivity. Our program will introduce kids to the basic aspects of digital learning. Students will learn how to type basic words and engage in lessons and educational computer games.
